Dyspareunia Treatment

Genital pain is a burden for females and impairs the quality of life. This pain is often most concerning when it interferes with a woman’s ability to engage in and enjoy sexual activities, typically intercourse (i.e. pain during vaginal intercourse). Women with pain during intercourse often experience negative impacts on their psychological health, relationships and quality of life.  There might be discomfort (over vulva), most often described as burning pain, occurring in the absence of relevant visible findings or a specific, clinically identifiable. This comfort may be generalized or localized. Localized pain typically consists of a severe burning, sharp pain upon contact to the vaginal opening, along with redness. The most common situation when such localized pain is experienced when there is vaginal penetration during sexual activity. Generalized pain typically presents with a constant burning pain over a large region of their external private parts. It can occur at any time of day during various activities, and can also occur “out of the blue.”
