Many times we think twice for applying for the Voter ID card for the hassle of government procedures, but the good news is Government of India has now simplified the process; moreover you can now even apply for online registration.

For saving one from getting into any problem and in order to fasten up the procedure one should be abreast with the basic requirements needed to be fulfilled for the same.

A citizen of Indore, who has attained 18 years of age, is eligible to apply for Voter ID. However you need to fulfill different forms, as per the requirement:

If you are going to get yourself enrolled on the electoral roll for the first time you need to fill the following forms:

Form No.6.

This form can also be downloaded from www.eci.gov.in, EC website or you can also obtain it from the nearest Revenue office, this form will also be available at offices of Election Commission of India.

Documents needed for form 6

  • Address Poof (Photocopy)
  • Identity card (Photocopy): Any of the following can be used for the same; Water bill, Property Tax Receipt, Electricity bill, LPG bill, Telephone bill, Residential or lease agreement, Bank account statement, Pension cards or Passport.
The respective forms needs to submit, for cases another then above mentioned:

Form No.7

If you are proposing deletion of name of any electors who are either dead, has shifted or otherwise ineligible from the current electoral role, you need to fill form no. 7. If you have moved from another constituency, you need to obtain a deletion certificate by filing form 7 and should file form 6 attached with deletion certificate in a new constituency.

Form No.8

Form 8 is required in case, the entries in the existing roll relating to you requires correction.
Form No.8A

If you have also moved to a new place within the same constituency, corrections of address can be done by filing form 8A. Documents required for this form are; address proof of current address and a copy of old voter ID.

Any of the following documents can be accepted as a proof of residency, which is required to be submitted with the above mentioned forms.
  1.  Driving License
  2. PAN card
  3. Pension document
  4. Arm’s License
  5. Passbook issued by bank or post office
  6. Passport
  7. Ration Card
  8. Railway identification card
  9. SC/ST/OBC document issued by a competent authority
  10. Service identity card in case of State and Central Government
  11. Property document with deed and photograph.
  12. Freedom fighter identity card
  13. Student identity card issued by competent authority
  14. Certificate of Physical Handicap by Competent authority
