Indore Transport Facilities

Indore is the largest metropolitan city of Madhya Pradesh and is the center of trade and commerce. The transport of the city is properly planned, effectively operated and intelligently managed which in turn enables the city to be productive and competitive. The city connects with the other cities through railways, roadways and airways. The railway station of Indore Junction is located on Broad Gauge line which consists of four main railway platforms. It is well covered and furnished with all the necessary facilities and requirements for the passengers. Indore is very well connected to other parts of Madhya Pradesh and rest of the country. At least five airlines have been operating from Indore.

Public Transport

The public transport within the city is basically road based with 500 private minibuses, 550 tempos which have now taken the form of Maruti Van, more than 100 Metro Taxi and around 10,000 auto rickshaws. The city also has city buses which are very comfortable and feasible to travel.

City Bus


The city bus routes are spread through out the city and also to neighbouring cities. Majority of city bus consist of ordinary route. For feasibility and convenience of the public, the buses have colour strips according to routes like green colour buses connect the city with Mhow. Buses of yellow and orange colour go beyond Indore region to Pithampur and Gandhinagar area. Buses with magenta strip mostly serve BRTS and provide connection to AB Road and buses coloured blue serve Rajwada region.

Auto

Autos are easily available in all the parts of the city and people can travel with comfort by auto.

Metro Taxi/Maruti van


Metro taxis and Maruti vans are the replacements of the tempos which were very common mode of transport in the city.

Cabs

Cabs are easily available on phone calls. One can book the cab for a whole day or for number of hours.

Indore City Transport Services


To manage the public transport of Indore, the City Transport Services Limited was established on December 1 in the year 2005. The main objective of operating and managing the public transport system of the city. Indore Municipal Corporation and Indore Development Authority invested an authorized capital of Rs 2,500,000 jointly. The transport has been properly developing and running by them.
