First Medical Institution in India

Indore is always a proud city to mention about the India's first medical institution, King Edward Medical School which was established in the city in early 1848. This was the first public hospital to be computerized and was named after Yashwantrao Holkar who was a Maharaja of Indore. In the year 1955, the hospital was the Asia's largest government hospital which had 1200 beds. It is still counted as the largest public hospital in the state.
