Importance Of Aadhar Card in Indore

The Unique Identification Authority of India, an office under the Planning Commission, has been entrusted by the Government of India to provide unique identification number or the Aadhar to all its citizens from the age of five onward.  However, as of today, such cards do not enjoy any legal status; yet it is important for a very different reason. Without the Aadhar Number, consumers may not get the LPG subsidy due to them and thus they will be forced to pay at the market rate for all cylinders they consume throughout the year. That is why as in every other place, people are keen to get their Aadhar Card in Indore.

What Is Aadhar?

It is important to remember that the Aadhar is not a card; it is a twelve digit number, which is unique for every individual. However, for convenience we refer to it as Aadhar Card. Moreover, it is not a proof of citizenship; it is just an identity card. Yet, it is different from other forms of identity card in that it is the only card that uses biometric technology along with other demographic details such as residential address to identify the card holder.

Unique Characteristics Of Aadhar Card

In information technology, the term biometric refers to measurement of certain physical characteristics, such as fingerprints, retinal patterns, or DNA to be used for verification of the identity of an individual. In Aadhar card the first two factors, i.e., the finger prints and retinal patterns are used as unique identification marks of the cardholder.  This is what makes Aadhar Card different from other modes of identity cards. Moreover, such cards can be used with equal effectiveness all over India in all sorts of official work and this too is a unique characteristic of the card.

Aadhar Registration in Indore

The registration for Aadhar Card in Indore first began in the second half of 2011. The drive was launched by the then Post Master General of Indore at the GPO and soon extended to several other post offices across the region. In the meanwhile, several other centres for enrolment of Aadhar Cards were opened In Indore. Some of those centers were temporary camps set up to speed up the process; these camps have either closed down or are likely to close down by year end.

As has been indicated before, this is not actually the whole list. Temporary enrollment centers are still open in various parts of the city as well as the district. All that is required on our part is an initiative to get enrolled. Although the Aadhar Card does not have any legal validity right now, it is indeed wise to obtain such cards without delay.
